The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) is the highest court of the land and serves as the final authority for any disputes legal or constitutional. In Oath of Office the role of the Supreme Court is to hear cases between the Federal Government and either organisations or the States. The Court comprises of 3 Justices who serve for life, to achieve this role you must have the Equal Justice Under Law gamepass however subject to in-game availability. The Supreme Court was introduced through the Equal Justice Under Law (v5.0) update.

Roles

Chief Justice

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is the highest rank in the Supreme Court. The main responsibility of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is to preside over oral arguments in cases brought to the Supreme Court. The Chief Justice will also deliver the courts judgement on cases. Although not yet a part of the game, one of the most important roles of the Chief Justice is to administer the Oath of Office to the President of the United States.

Associate Justice

An Associate Justice of the Supreme Court is one of two that serve Supreme Court along side the Chief Justice. The main responsibility of an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court is to participate and listen to oral arguments brought to the Supreme Court. An Associate Justice will also take part in deliberation with their fellow Justices when coming to a decision of the court.

Appointment Process

In order to serve as a Justice on the Supreme Court you must first have the Equal Justice Under Law gamepass. As the court only comprises of three members availability can be rare, however when their is an available position the President of the United States must then either nominate or appoint you to either the role of Chief Justice or Associate Justice. If you are appointed you will automatically be made a Justice and from then onwards can serve as apart of the Court. If you are nominated you must be first approved by the The Senate in order to serve. Once you are made a Supreme Court Justice you will serve for life meaning that you cannot be removed from your position and it will only ever be vacated if you chose to vacate it.

Daily Schedule

As a Supreme Court Justice your day will be split up into 6 sessions in this order:

Office Hour

This is time for you to review your case, discuss with your fellow Justices informally and do any other tasks you wish to do outside of your court duties.

Plaintiff's Arguments

This is the first block of two that take place to hear oral arguments. In this block the court will hear and question the case Plaintiff to understand their argument.

Respondent's Arguments

This is the second block of two that take place to hear oral arguments. In this block the court will hear and question the case Defendant to understand their argument.

Deliberation

This is when all of the Supreme Court Justices meet in a private chamber to discuss the case consulting on the arguments they heard and making a decision.

Decision

This is when the court will return to session and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court will deliver the courts Judgement. This is also additional time if needed for the court to hear or question anything related to the case.

Social Hour

This hour is split up into many different things depending on the day. For example, some social hours consist of Correspondents Dinner, the State of the Union, Debates or Rallies. This is a roleplay block.

Summary

The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) is the highest court in the land, it resolves legal disputes, with its rulings being final. The court is comprised of three justices, a Chief Justice along with two Associate Justices, these individuals serve for life. In order to become a Justice an individual must has the Equal Justice Under Law gamepass and then either be appointed or nominated by the President of the United States, with Senate approval if nominated.
