The Secretary of Commerce (SECCOM) serves as the Head of the Department of Commerce and member the United States Cabinet which advises the President of the United States.. Selection Process
The Selection Process for the role of the Secretary of Commerce varies, there are several different ways that an individual may hold the office of the Secretary of Commerce. The most common path to the office is, serve as a member of the Department of Commerce in one of its several different roles and receive the role by automatic appointment when the office is made vacant. An individual may also be nominated by the President to serve in the office, however in this pathway the individual may only serve under the advise & consent of the Senate.
The individual that holds the office is up to the discretion of the President of the United States and therefore, an individual may be removed from office at any time.
Daily Schedule
The Daily Schedule of the Secretary of Commerce consists of 3 different events.
Department Meeting
The Department Meeting is a time for the Secretary of Commerce to meet with the Deputy & Under Secretaries of the Departments. In this meeting a decision will be made by the Secretary of Commerce under advise of the Deputy & Under Secretaries.
Cabinet Meeting
The Cabinet Meeting is a time when the Secretary of Commerce goes to the White House to meet with their fellow Cabinet level Secretaries as well as the President & Vice President to discuss a nation issue. In this meeting the Secretary of Commerce will advice the President on what decision to make focussing on advising on public safety issues.
Social Hour
The Social Hour is a time for roleplay to take place, this hour is not as important as the others. In this time, it is common to socialise and roleplay with others. In this period events like the State of the Union, as well as party events take place.
Powers and Duties
Department
In the department, each day the Secretary of Commerce will be given an issue with options for decisions. The Secretary must then make a decision with respect to the advise given by their Staff. The decision that the Secretary makes will both impact on their stats but also the Nations. The Secretary of Commerce additionally has the power to dismiss any individual member of the department below them, which is every member of the department.
The 25th Amendment
If the cabinet see the President is "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office" then a vote may be started by any Secretary of the Cabinet, that includes the Secretary of Commerce. The Secretary of Commerce also has the power to vote on a proposal to dismiss the President through either voting "aye" or "nay". This power must only be used when necessary and if even more than one Secretary of the Cabinet nays the proposal then it fails.
The President, if the vote fails, has the power to see who initiated the vote and may dismiss that Secretary from Cabinet and Office.
