The Senate is the upper chamber of the United States Congress, and it's charged with the responsibility of making and passing Legislation coming from the House. The Senate's roles are only accessible via the Advice & Consent gamepass however subject to in-game availability, and was released as part of the Advice & Consent (v3.0) update.

Roles edit

President of the Senate edit

The President of the Senate, whom is the Vice President of the United States, is the highest rank in the Senate. While it isn't a direct part of the Senate, the Vice President is formally the Senate lead and has the power to break ties on Legislation when they occur. The Vice President does not have the ability to create any Legislation, nor can it directly vote on Legislation except when there is a tie.

President Pro Tempore edit

The President Pro Tempore is the second-highest rank in the Senate, and will assume the first-highest and lead if the President of the Senate is not present. The main responsibility of the President Pro Tempore is to preside over the Senate sessions in absence of the President of the Senate. The President Pro Tempore will attend Chamber Leadership conferences to communicate amongst the different chambers of Congress, additionally the President Pro Tempore will work with the White House to ensure the collaboration with the Senate.

Senate Party Leader edit

The Senate Party Leader serves as the chief spokespersons for their respective political parties. The Senate Party Leader will also communicate with their parties, chamber leadership and the executive branch to find common ground on legislation. In addition to this, the Senate Party Leader will also set an agenda and assign the whips of the party.

Senators edit

The Senators are the main body of the Senate. They have the ability to create Legislation and vote on Legislation. The Senate also comprises of Officers of the senate, those who are non-voting participants.

There are 8 Senators, 1 for each of the 8 in-game States:

  1. Senator for the State of Cascadia
  2. Senator for the State of Dakota
  3. Senator for the State of Navajo
  4. Senator for the Commonwealth of New England
  5. Senator for the State of Appalachia
  6. Senator for the State of Carolina
  7. Senator for the State of Superior
  8. Senator for the State of Orleans

Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper of the United States Senate edit

The Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper of the United States Senate main responsiblity is assisting in maintaining order in the chamber during its session and ensuring compliance to the rules of the Senate. In Oath of Office the role is currently only roleplay based without any tools to assist in the duties it must carry out.

Selection Process edit

The selection process occurs during Day 1. This process is designed to choose a President Pro Tempore that will lead the Senate if the Vice President is not present in additon to the Senate Party Leaders and Whips of each party. It consists of three elections, one for each position. Each election is composed of two voting blocks. Firstly, each senator will cast their vote for a senator of their choice, the two most voted senators will advance to a second round where they are the only available options. Each senator will cast their vote again and whoever wins the duel is selected for that position. Note that Independents and opposing party senators can't vote for Senate Party Leaders and Whips from another party.
