The Department of Defense is a executive department that is tasked with handling the millitary and national security relating to the armed forces. It is led by the Secretary of Defense, and is headquartered at the Pentagon.

Like other departments, the Defense Department is tasked with dealing with an issue by passing a law. Most members of the department are tasked with an issue they can solve, while a federal level intra-department issue is tasked to the Secretary. The secretary must discuss this issue with his department members and ultimately pass a law that would benefit the nation.

The Secretary of Defense is the highest ranked member of the Department. Like all other secretaries, it can pass a high-level department wide law, and chair meetings with his staff. The Secretary is able to fire members of his staff if he wants to for any reason.

The Deputy Secretary of Defense is the second highest ranked member. It is able to pass a department level law and is the chief advisor to the Secretary. It is next in line of succession to the Secretary of Defense
