The '''Deputy Secretary of Defense (DEPSECDEF)''' serves as the Deputy Head of the [[Department of Defense (USA)|United States Department of Defense]]. The Deputy Secretary of Defense is tasked with assisting in the management of the Department of Defense. The most important role of the Deputy Secretary is to serve the duties of the [[Secretary of Defense]] if the office is vacant. The role was introduced to the game in v2.1.

===Selection Process===
To be selected for the office of Deputy Secretary of Defense, an individual must first serve in the Department of Defense. This is the only way to take the position of Deputy Secretary. Now, it may be selectable as a role in the roles menu if the office is vacant however if it is not an individual must take another Secretary role in the Department and then be elevated to the role of Deputy Secretary once the office of Deputy Secretary is made vacant, this promotion is automatic and the Secretary of Defense has now power in selecting whom serves as Deputy

The individual that holds the office is up to the discretion of the Secretary of Defense and therefore, an individual may be removed from office at any time.
==Daily Schedule==
The Daily Schedule of the Deputy Secretary of Defense consists of 3 different events.
===Department Meeting===
The Department Meeting is a time for the Deputy Secretary of Defense to meet with the Secretary of Defense as well as the Secretaries of each branch. In this meeting the Secretary of Defense will be provided with a department issue that has several options to pick from, the Deputy Secretary will advice the Secretary on what option to pick.
===Working Group/Office Hour===
In this time the Deputy Secretary will either be given a working group or an office hour. If it is a working group then at that slot the Deputy Secretary will be taken to one of the several departments and meet with a selection of different staff to discuss and issue and come to a decision, this is similar to the decision in the department meeting however the entire group gets to make a decision. If it is office then the Deputy Secretary will be essentially given a free hour, nothing will be required of them.
===Social Hour===
The Social Hour is a time for roleplay to take place, this hour is not as important as the others. In this time, it is common to socialise and roleplay with others. In this period events like the State of the Union, as well as party events take place.

In the Department, the Deputy Secretary will not have any direct power however the duties will require them to advice the Secretary of Defense on how they use the power they have, specifically with personnel. The Deputy Secretary is also a senior figure that should advice all the staff below them, typically assisting them in making the decisions they must be making.
